Prime Minister to attend WEF’s meeting, pay working visit to China
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the 15th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Dalian City, China’s Liaoning Province and pay a working visit to China from June 24-27.
The trip will be made at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab.
Cooperation between Viet Nam and the WEF began in 1989. The WEF is an important dialogue forum where Vietnamese government leaders and foreign corporations can generate ideas for economic reform and bringing investment to Viet Nam.
Over the past three decades, senior Vietnamese leaders have regularly attended the WEF's annual meetings in Davos and East Asia, where they have put forward new ideas and feasible cooperation plans.
Viet Nam collaborated with the WEF in organizing the WEF-East Asia meeting in Ho Chi Minh City in 2010, the WEF-Mekong meeting in 2016 in Ha Noi, and the WEF-ASEAN meeting in 2018 in Ha Noi.
In October 2021 a national Strategic Dialogue between Viet Nam and the WEF was held for the first time, which the WEF called the most successful national dialogue yet in terms of participants, content, timetable, and organization.
The 15th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the WEF will gather over 1,500 high-level leaders from business, government, civil society and international organizations, as well as prominent entrepreneurs, innovators and academics to generate collective insights and deployable solutions.
This year's theme, "Next Frontiers for Growth", aims to address the challenges and opportunities presented by a rapidly changing global landscape.
Participants will engage in high-level discussions and workshops designed to foster cooperation and explore new avenues for growth. The meeting will also provide a timely update on China's economic outlook and that of Asia at large, a region that continues to drive two-thirds of all global growth./.
