Prime Minister successfully wraps up China trip
VGP - The recent trip to China by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is a success, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.
The Vietnamese Government chief attended the 15th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Dalian and paid a working visit to China from June 24-27.
Pham was one of only two heads of state and government who were invited by the WEF and host China to attend the event for the second consecutive year. This demonstrates the importance they attach to Viet Nam’s position and role in and contributions to global economic growth, as well as its development vision for the future economy.
The Prime Minister delivered a keynote speech with an audience of 1,700 guests from 80 countries. He shared Viet Nam's inspiring story of Doi Moi (renewal), integration and development, Viet Nam's role and position on the international stage.
The Government chief highlighted the importance of promoting science and innovation to create new engines for growth while calling for strengthening collaboration in policy frameworks, resource utilization, and future workforce development.
WEF Founder Klaus Schwab hailed Viet Nam's dynamic economy which he said is a regional growth leader.
During his talks and meetings with Chinese leaders in China, Prime Minister Pham reiterated the importance of strengthening and developing friendly cooperation with China as an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority in Viet Nam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization of external ties.
The two sides agreed on major directions and specific measures to strengthen cooperation and spur the strong social foundation for bilateral relations.
They were unanimous in implementing agreements and high-level shared perceptions, adhering to international law, and effectively and properly resolving disputes and contributing to global and regional peace and stability./.
