The session, moderated by WEF President Borge Brendewas, was held within the framework of the 55th WEF annual meeting.

Attendants to the session included Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Bangladeshi Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on Myanmar Julie Bishop and Mastercard Chair Merit Janow.

Addressing the event, Pham said ASEAN needs to enter the "smart era" with an ambitious mindset, and with science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the new driving forces to create breakthroughs for the region's growth.

To be successful in the smart era, Pham said ASEAN needs to take into account the following six key factors:

In term of politics and security, ASEAN must be a peaceful, stable and war-free region.

On economic front, the bloc needs to ensure rapid and sustainable development.

Regarding culture, ASEAN should promote unity in diversity while developing ASEAN identity and preserving the distinctiveness of each member.

In terms of environment, ASEAN needs to ensure sustainable resourse use and protect the environment for future generations.

Regarding social aspect, the bloc needs to ensure social progress and fairness, inclusive development, and leaving no one behind.

Pham emphasized Viet Nam's determination to develop science, technology, innovation, and digitalization through three strategic priorities including institutions, infrastructure, and human resources.

The Prime Minister called for further cooperation and connection between ASEAN and the global community, as well as between Viet Nam and other ASEAN Member States, to develop together and move forward, harnessing global knowledge to serve the common development goals.

Regarding the Myanmar issue, Pham expressed his firm belief that with unity and solidarity for its common goals, ASEAN will contribute to bringing peace, stability, and happiness back to the people of Myanmar soon.

Following the session, Pham and his entourage left Davos, concluding his official visit to Poland, the Czech Republic, and attendance at the 55th annual meeting of the WEF in Switzerland./.
