Prime Minister meets AU leader, Slovakian counterpart on WEF sidelines

At the meeting with the AU official, Pham spoke highly of the voice and crucial role of the AU at international and regional forums.

He congratulated the AU on becoming a member of the G20.

The Prime Minister asserted that Viet Nam attaches importance to the traditional friendship and cooperation with African nations and expects to bolster collaboration with African countries in such areas as agriculture, and trade.

As an observer of the AU since December 2023, Viet Nam hopes to boost cooperation with the union, Prime Minister Pham affirmed.

Amani Abou Zeid said that she described Viet Nam as a model of transformation, expressing her wish to share experience with the nation in economic transformation.

She consented with proposals of the Prime Minister on enhancing cooperation, adding that tourism is a potential sector for both sides to promote in the upcoming time.

During the meeting with Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, the Prime Minister Pham reiterated that Viet Nam always treasures the traditional friendship and cooperation with Slovakia.

He thanked Slovakia for supporting and signing the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and ratifying the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

Pham called on Slovakia to raise its voice to push for the removal of the European Commission's "yellow card" against Vietnamese seafood exports.

The Slovakian Prime Minister expressed his hope that Viet Nam will exempt visa for Slovakian citizens to facilitate tourism, business and investment activities between the two sides.

The two Prime Ministers vowed to foster collaboration across all areas, especially education, and work closely in settling regional and global issues, and support each other at multilateral forums such as the UN, ASEM and EU-ASEAN cooperation mechanisms./.
