Politburo member and Permanent member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee Tran Cam Tu
The two-day visits are made at the invitation of Vilay Lakhamphong, Permanent member of the Secretariat of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, and Samdech Say Chhum, Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and Chairman of the Standing Board of the CPP Central Committee.
Tran is accompanied by President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Doan Minh Huan, among others.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam said this is the first visit to Laos by a key Vietnamese leader after the 14th National Party Congress and the new leadership election in each country, demonstrating the profound political significance, continuity, and development of the special solidarity between the two countries.
The visit reflects the special political trust between the two Parties, States and peoples, as well as Viet Nam's consistent policy of giving the top strategic priority to the relations with Laos, he added.
Amid rapidly evolving and complex global and regional developments, the visit reaffirms the importance and strategic significance of the bilateral ties, which need to be further strengthened and nurtured in a more substantive and effective manner across all fields, shared the diplomat.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu described the trip as particularly significant as it marks the first overseas visit by Tran in his capacity as a key leader of the Party and State following the 14th National Party Congress.
It demonstrates Viet Nam's consistent priority in consolidating and advancing its traditional friendship and cooperation with Cambodia.
The visit also coincides with the lead-up to Cambodia's traditional New Year, during which the senior Party official is expected to convey New Year greetings from Vietnamese Party and State leaders to Cambodian leaders and people.
A key focus of the visit will be to review and advance the implementation of agreements reached by leaders of the two Parties and States during their high-level meeting in Phnom Penh in February, held on the occasion of the State visit to Cambodia by General Secretary To Lam./.
