PM hosts official welcome ceremony for Russian counterpart
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Tuesday hosted an official welcome ceremony for his Russian counterpart Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin at the Presidential Palace in Ha Noi.
This is Mishustin's first visit to Viet Nam and the first official visit by a foreign leader to the Southeast Asian country in 2025.
During the ceremony, the two leaders saluted the national flags of both countries, reviewed the guard of honor of the Viet Nam People's Army, and introduced the members of their respective high-level delegations. Following the ceremony, the two Prime Ministers held talks.
The visit demonstrates that both countries value their traditional friendship and are committed to further consolidating and enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, making it more intensive, substantive, and effective.
It will also provide an opportunity for Vietnamese and Russian leaders to discuss, and reach consensus on important issues, while outlining future strategic orientations, and clearly defining key areas of cooperation, spanning from economy, trade, energy, and science -technology, to education, culture, and defense-security.
The bilateral trade value increased from US$3.63 billion in 2023 to US$4.57 billion last year.
As of November 2024, Russia had poured US$990 million in 199 investment projects in Viet Nam, ranking 26th out of 147 countries and territories investing in the country.
Meanwhile, Viet Nam had 16 valid investment projects in Russia with a total registered capital of US$1.6 billion, ranking 4th out of 81 countries and territories investing in Russia.
There are currently around 60,000 Vietnamese people living in Russia./.
