Ambassadors highlight significance of Russian Prime Minister's Viet Nam visit
VGP - Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi highlighted the importance of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin's upcoming official visit of to Viet Nam.
The visit will take place from January 14-15 at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh, which aims to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership and prepare for key bilateral events in 2025.
The two-day visit will kick-start a series of high-level events to mark the 75th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Russia (January 30, 1950 – 2025), the Ambassador said.
"2025 is set to open in a new phase of comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Russia," he added.
The visit is expected to expedite the implementation of key initiatives discussed during President Putin's state visit to Viet Nam in June 2024, and the phone talks between General Secretary and President To Lam and President Putin in August 2024.
Leaders from both sides will explore future strategic directions, and identify critical areas for cooperation, including economy, trade, energy, science and technology, education, culture, and defense-security.
Meanwhile, Russian Ambassador to Viet Nam G.S.Bezdetko said that the two countries are expected to sign some cooperation documents following talks and meetings between Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin and Vietnamese leaders.
The visit of one of Russia's top leaders to Viet Nam ahead of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the former Soviet Union, now Russia, and Viet Nam (January 30, 1950 - 2025) is a symbolic event, said Bezdetko.
According to the diplomat, the year 2025 also marks several significant anniversaries in the history of relations between the two countries, including the 80th anniversary of Victory of the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 2025), the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Viet Nam and National Reunification (April 30, 2025), the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam's National Day (September 2, 2025), and the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Viet Nam (May 29, 2025).
Bezdetko shared that during Mishustin's upcoming visit to Viet Nam, the two sides are expected to have substantive discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, economy, science-technology, and humanitarian aid.
He highlighted that over the past 75 years, the two countries have acquired a wealth of experience, including unique practices in mutually beneficial and diverse cooperation. Since 2001, relations between Russia and Viet Nam have achieved a strategic status, and in 2012, they were elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The two countries cooperate across various fields, including trade, economy, science - technology, humanitarian aid, national defense, and security.
The two sides will also exchange views to strengthen coordination in international forums, particularly the United Nations and ASEAN-led mechanisms.
Bezdetko emphasized the need to deepen and diversify cooperation between the two countries. This relationship is built on a solid foundation of a long-standing tradition of friendship and mutual support, serving the fundamental interests of both sides, with the ultimate goal of ensuring prosperity and happiness for their peoples.
He was convinced that the talks and meetings between the Russian Prime Minister and Vietnamese leaders during this visit would create additional momentum to strengthen cooperation in traditional fields and explore new, promising fields, all in the spirit of friendship, mutual understanding, and comprehensive strategic partnership./.
