Party leader meets First Deputy Speaker of Finnish Parliament

To emphasized that Viet Nam always treasures the valuable support that the Finnish people have extended to the Southeast Asian country during its nation-building process.
Viet Nam expects to continuously strengthen and advance relations with Finland, reiterated the Party chief, adding that the parliamentary channel plays a practical role in promoting and overseeing the implementation of intergovernmental agreements, thereby deepening mutual understanding and trust between the two countries.
He expressed his belief that with the upgrading of the bilateral ties into a strategic partnership, cooperation across various fields, including parliamentary collaboration, will continue to be further enhanced.
The guest recommended the Finnish Parliament urge the remaining seven EU member states to soon ratify the EU–Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), thereby creating favorable conditions for investors from the EU and Finland to invest in Viet Nam.
The General Secretary suggested the Finnish Parliament encourage the European Commission to soon lift the "yellow card" on Vietnamese seafood exports, expressing his wish that maritime cooperation will become a focus between the two nations.
To called on Finland to support ASEAN's principled stance in addressing the East Sea issue based on international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Both sides underscored the important role of the two countries' parliaments in boosting collaboration in economy and trade, investment, energy, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges as well as speeding up the removal of barriers to facilitate conditions for citizens of both countries to live in each other's territories.
The two leaders vowed to continue strengthening parliamentary cooperation via the regular delegation exchanges, especially at high levels and sharing legislative experience.
The host and the guest also discussed measures to foster stronger ties at multilateral parliamentary forums, thereby expressing a common voice for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and the world./.
