Viet Nam, Finland elevate ties to strategic partnership
VGP – Viet Nam and Finland have agreed to elevate their ties to strategic partnership, according to a Joint Statement issued on the occasion of General Secretary To Lam's official visit to the Nordic country.

Building on the 52-year history of the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation, trust, and mutual respect, the new partnership framework was formed for the benefits of people of the two countries and for peace, stability and prosperity in the two regions and the world.
Both sides agreed to further promote high-level visits and contacts across all channels to consolidate political cooperation and mutual understanding; to establish an annual strategic dialogue mechanism on global issues; to coordinate in addressing traditional and non-traditional security challenges; and to monitor bilateral cooperation, including defense and security domain.
The two sides underscored the importance of close collaboration at regional and international forums, reaffirming their support for multilateralism and their full respect for international law and peaceful resolution of disputes in line with international law.
Both sides agreed that economic cooperation is the key pillar of the new partnership framework, pledging to promote transparent, fair and non-discriminatory trade and investment climate.
The two countries will promote programs on cooperation in such fields like e-government development, circular economy, artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, 5G/6G technology and green technologies.
