According to a report by Metric.vn, total sales on these four platforms reached VND441.97 trillion (US$17.115 billion) in the first nine months of this year, up 44.47 percent year on year.

In the third quarter, total sales on the four e-commerce platforms hit VND150.38 trillion (US$5.823 billion), with 1.0891 billion items sold, witnessing respective growth of 45.16 percent in sales and 10.13 percent in sales volume.

The number of active stores on the platforms was estimated at around 661,200, up 16.74 percent.

Metric forecasted that sales across the four e-commerce platforms could achieve VND165.5 trillion (US$6.408 billion) in the fourth quarter of 2026, with sales volume projected at approximately 1.1023 billion items. Compared with the third quarter, these figures would represent increases of 10.05 percent and 1.22 percent, respectively.

The market is expected to continue expanding in the final quarter of the year, driven by peak shopping periods and demand associated with the festive season.

Viet Nam's e-commerce market size is expected to grow from US$27.73 billion in 2025 to US$33.57 billion in 2026 and is forecast to reach US$87.36 billion by 2031 at 21.08 percent CAGR over 2026-2031.

Digital commerce now commands about 9 percent of total retail sales, underscoring how swiftly online channels are displacing traditional store formats.

Government policies—most notably the national cashless payment development project—are accelerating non-cash transactions, while free-trade pacts such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) are drawing in a wave of cross-border sellers./.
