Gov’t continues providing emergency relief for Typhoon Matmo victims
VGP - The Government has decided to provide an additional VND400 billion (US$15.18 million) in emergency relief to four northern provinces — Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Lang Son, and Bac Ninh — to overcome the consequences of torrential rains and flooding in the aftermath of Typhoon Matmo.

On October 8, the Prime Minister also decided to allocate VND140 billion from the central budget to help these provinces recover from recent floods, including VND50 billion for Thai Nguyen province and VND30 billion each for the remaining three.
On October 2, the Prime Minister signed a decision to provide over VND2.52 trillion (about US$95.6 million) for 15 provinces affected by Typhoon Bualoi and other natural disasters since the beginning of the year.
As of late October 11, individuals, agencies, and organizations had pledged a total of VND907.45 billion (US$34.45 million) through the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) to support victims of natural disasters.
According to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, severe flooding triggered by Typhoon Matmo has caused a total economic loss of VND8,720 billion (about US$350 million) across the four provinces.
Thai Nguyen province was the most severely hit, with VND4 trillion in damages, followed by Cao Bang province with VND2 trillion, Bac Ninh province with VND1.67 trillion, and Lang Son province with VND1.05 trillion.
Viet Nam was battered by two devastating storms - Typhoon Bualoi (Storm No. 10) and Typhoon Matmo (Storm No. 11) - leaving over 80 people dead or missing, damaging nearly 200,000 homes, and flooding 87,000 hectares of crops./.
