In addition to the vaccine donations, the Ministry of Health shall decide to purchase additional vaccines for children on the basis of the evolution of the pandemic, the Government ordered.

Earlier the ministry authorized the emergency use of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (Spikevax) and Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine (Comirnaty) for children in this age group.

The northren province of Quang Ninh became the first locality in Viet Nam to roll out COVID-19 shots for children aged 5-11 from April 14.

Viet Nam has around 11.8 million children aged 5 to under 12, of them about 8.2 million children are thought to have yet been infected with COVID-19./.
