German parliament to ratify EVIPA in early 2026

VGP - Germany will ratify the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) in early 2026 to create a strong boost to economic cooperation with Viet Nam.

Vietnamese Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh was informed about Germany's plan during his meetings with Vice-President of the German Bundestag Bodo Ramelow, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katharina Reiche and Minister President of Rhineland-Pfalz Alexander Schweitzer as part of the Vietnamese official's working visit to Germany.

German officials expressed their admiration for Viet Nam's efforts in national development and highly appreciated its resolve to establish the International Financial Center in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. They affirmed their readiness to cooperate, share experience, and support Viet Nam in training human resources in the financial sector.

Germany attaches importance to the relationship with Viet Nam, consistently considering Viet Nam a partner of strategic importance in the Southeast Asia, they reiterated.

Nguyen, for his part, said the Vietnamese Party, State and people treasure the multi-faceted relations with Germany. He called on Germany to raise its voice to urge the European Commission (EC) to lift the 'yellow card' warning against Vietnamese seafood exports.

Both sides vowed to prioritize and enhance cooperation in trade and investment, as well as in areas where Viet Nam has needs and Germany has strengths, such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, infrastructure, science and technology, and education and training./.
