German Bundestag to ratify EVIPA in first half
VGP - The German Bundestag will soon ratify the EU–Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) in the first half of this year to create new momentum for trade and investment cooperation.

Vice-President of the German Bundestag Bodo Ramelow made the above statement during his meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung in Berlin, on March 23, on the occasion of the Vietnamese official's working visit to Germany.
Ramelow expressed his delight at Viet Nam's remarkable achievements and rapid development in recent years, underlining that Germany treasures Viet Nam's role and position in the Indo-Pacific region and globally.
Germany is currently Viet Nam's biggest trading partner within the EU. Bilateral trade turnover in 2025 reached over US$13.7 billion, marking an increase of nearly 17 percent compared to the previous year, he said, adding that the German Bundestag completed the ratification process of the EVIPA in November last year.
Germany is considering establishing a Germany–Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Group to further strengthen cooperation, told the legislator.
Nguyen, for his side, stated that Viet Nam hails Germany's leading role and position in the region and globally, as well as the potential for cooperation between the two countries.
Viet Nam stands ready to serve as a bridge to foster stronger ties between the German Bundestag and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, noted the guest.
Both sides vowed to continue promoting effective cooperation at multilateral forums and mechanisms, while respecting and ensuring the implementation of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982.
They urged German businesses to strengthen ties with Viet Nam in areas such as green transition, digital transformation, and high science and technology.
Both sides underlined the need to enhance exchanges between specialized committees and parliamentary groups to share experiences in legislation, oversight, and innovation as well as support each other at multilateral parliamentary forums.
They pledged to step up collaboration in areas where Viet Nam has demand and align with Germany's high-tech development strategy through 2029 and scientific research, particularly in fields such as nuclear fusion, AI, digital and quantum technologies, microelectronics, biotechnology, and green transportation./.
