These bridges are part of the capital city's investment plan worth VND55 trillion (around US$2.15 billion) to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion by 2027.

Among them, Thuong Cat, Ngoc Hoi, Tu Lien, and Tran Hung Dao bridges are gradually taking shape.

The simultaneous construction of seven new bridges is expected to mark a major step forward in Ha Noi’s transport infrastructure, enhancing regional connectivity, easing pressure on existing crossings and opening up new urban development space along both riverbanks.

The Ha Noi People's Committee officially launched component project 2 of the Thuong Cat Bridge and its approach roads on October 8, 2025.

Funded by the city budget, Thuong Cat bridge construction project has a total investment of more than VND 7.3 trillion (approximately US$281 million) and is scheduled for completion in 2027.

Designed as a cable-stayed bridge, Thuong Cat Bridge will stretch more than 5.2km, including a main bridge section of nearly 3.9km. The Red River crossing will feature a 780-metre span made up of three large sections. Once completed, the bridge is expected to help complete Ring Road 3.5 and improve connections between the municipal center and north-western Ha Noi.

Another major project on Ring Road 3.5 is Ngoc Hoi Bridge. This is a cable-stayed bridge with a total investment of VND 11.844 trillion (around US$455 million).

The main span over the Red River will be around 680 meters long and 38.3 meters wide, featuring six lanes for motor vehicles and two mixed-use lanes. The project will also include intelligent transport systems, lighting and maintenance infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Once operational, Ngoc Hoi Bridge is expected to help reduce congestion on Ring Road 3, Giai Phong Road, National Highway 1A and Road 70.

The construction is progressing rapidly on Tu Lien Bridge, which crosses both the Red River and the Duong River.

This 43-meter-wide cable-stayed bridge features a 500-meter central span and towers rising 185 meters high.

Construction is taking place simultaneously at multiple sections. On both rivers, barges and heavy equipment are operating continuously to drill bored piles for the main piers, while underpasses and interchanges at the Nghi Tam bridgehead are also being accelerated.

At the same time, site clearance work is being urgently carried out around alley 310 Nghi Tam, where many houses and structures have already been demolished to hand over land for the project.

According to the Ha Noi Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board, nearly 80 percent of the site clearance for the project have been fulfilled.

The 4.18km bridge is designed with six lanes for motor vehicles, along with dedicated lanes for bicycles and pedestrians./.
