Foreign leaders continue to congratulate new Vietnamese Party chief
VGP - Leaders of foreign Parties and countries have continued to convey congratulations to President To Lam on the occasion of his election as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee.

In his message of congratulation, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said he is convinced that the Viet Nam-Singapore relationship will be further enhanced under To's leadership.
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed his belief that under To’s sound leadership, Viet Nam will make more progress. The Prime Minister hoped that the relations between the two countries, will move towards a comprehensive strategic partnership, for the sake of their people.
Indian President Droupadi Murmu expected that the Viet Nam-India comprehensive strategic partnership will grow further on the basis of mutual trust and understanding, as well as multilateral cooperation.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that Viet Nam and Australia are sustainable friends, and their relationship is based on the close ties between their people as well as their strategic political confidence.
President of the Communist Party of Brazil Luciana Santos praised the Vietnamese leader’s devotion to bolstering renewal and socialism building in the Southeast Asian nation.
The President and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Chile, the President of the Fatherland for All Party of the Dominican Republic, and various people’s associations also sent congratulatory messages to the Vietnamese Party leader.
Earlier, on July 18, To Lam was assigned to temporarily preside over the tasks of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Party Central Committee's Secretariat.
The Party Central Committee elected State President To Lam as the country's Party General Secretary for the 2021-2026 term at an extraordinary conference on August 3.
To Lam, born in 1957, is a Party Central Committee member for its 11th-13th tenures and a Politburo member for the 12th-13th tenures. He is also a National Assembly member for its 14th-15th terms.
He was Deputy Minister of Public Security from 2010-2016; and Minister of Public Security from April 2016 to May 22, 2024, when he was elected by the National Assembly as the country's President./.
