Since Viet Nam reopens its borders to foreign tourists in March last year, South Korea has become the Southeast Asian nation's largest source of tourists. In the first 10 months of this year, the nation welcomes around 2.9 million South Koreans - Photo: VGP/Thuy Dung

The number of domestic tourists during the period was estimated at 98.7 million.

Total tourism revenue stood at VND582.6 trillion (US$23.7 billion).

Up to 1.1 million international arrivals traveled to Viet Nam in October alone, marking the 4th consecutive month the country welcomes over 1 million international visitors.

South Korea, China, the U.S., Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Australia and India were Viet Nam's major tourist source markets.

Viet Nam's tourism industry would achieve its goal of welcoming 12-13 million foreign visitors by the end of this year, according to Deputy General Director of the VNAT Pham Van Thuy.

In the first nine months, foreign arrivals in Viet Nam exceeded the preset target of 8 million by 11 percent.

Viet Nam's more open visa policy applied recently has created favorable conditions for foreign holidaymakers. In addition, Viet Nam is undergoing a cultural revival, with all of its historical sites and heritages becoming assets that could be used to create unique tourism products, making them attractive to international tourists./.
