Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha holds talks with Dutch counterpart

Tran, who is on a visit to the Netherlands to co-chair the 8th session of Viet Nam - Netherlands Intergovernmental Committee on Climate Change Adaptation and Water Management (IC8), affirmed that Viet Nam always attaches importance to the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

Carola Schouten emphasized the special significance of Tran's Netherlands visit which takes place on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relations (1973-2023).

She expressed his belief that the visit would help further deepen the strategic partnership on climate change adaptation and water management framework.

The two Deputy Prime Ministers welcomed positive developments in the bilateral cooperation between Viet Nam and the Netherlands over the past time.

They reaffirmed their determination to advance the Viet Nam-Netherlands comprehensive partnership further to be commensurate with the two countries' potential and the wishes of their leaders and people.

Notably, the two sides will maintain close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and international organizations such as the ASEAN-EU cooperation framework, the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), and the United Nations.

Regarding the East Sea issue, both sides underlined the importance of ensuring peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea; and settling disputes by peaceful measures based on international law while emphasizing the importance of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister suggessted the Dutch Government create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the Western European country, promoting its essential role as a bridge connecting the two countries.

He affirmed that Viet Nam welcomes and creates the best environment for foreign investors, businessmen and tourists, including those from the Netherlands.

Also, on the evening of June 26 (local time), the 50th anniversary of establishing Viet Nam - Netherlands diplomatic relations and the opening of the "Viet Nam - "Country and People"  photo exhibition took place./.
