Deputy Prime Minister meets Chinese Vice President
VGP - Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son paid a courtesy visit to Vice President of China Han Zheng in Beijing, China, on December 10.
Bui, who is on a working visit to China to co-chair the 16th session of the Viet Nam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, reiterated that Viet Nam consistently considers the development of relations with China as a steadfast policy, a strategic choice, and a top priority in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of international relations.
Bui spoke highly of the positive growth momentum and the outcomes of cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries.
He suggested that both sides continue to increase all-level delegation exchanges, promote collaboration in various fields, particularly in connecting development strategies, transport infrastructure and partnerships in economy, trade, investment, culture, education, and tourism.
Bui underscored the need to accelerate the implementation of three standard-gauge railway projects connecting Viet Nam with China.
He called on China to step up imports of Vietnamese goods and encourage Chinese big enterprises to invest in large-scale, and high-quality projects in Viet Nam.
He urged both sides to work closely to organize activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the "Year of Viet Nam-China Humanistic Exchange", while actively promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Bui also stressed the importance of seriously implementing high-level perceptions and agreements on maritime issues, increasing common points while narrowing differences, and respecting each other's legitimate rights and interests in accordance with international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), contributing to maintaining peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
Han, for his part, asserted that China attaches importance to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Viet Nam and the Viet Nam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
China always considers the relations with Viet Nam as a priority in its neighboring diplomacy and supports Viet Nam in pursuing its innovation, industrialization, and modernization process, the Chinese Vice President emphasized.
China stands ready to work with Viet Nam to maintain strategic exchanges, further deepen substantive cooperation across various fields, and continuously promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, noted the host.
China advocates Viet Nam to successfully organize the 14th National Party Congress and to successfully host APEC in 2027, affirmed Han.
He suggesting that both sides strengthen people-to-people exchanges, better control and resolve maritime differences to contribute to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world./.
