On the occasion, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man sent congratulatory letters to Nukaga Fukushiro on his reappointment as Speaker for the House of Representatives and Sekiguchi Masakazu on his appointment as the new Chairperson of the House of Councillors.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son cabled a message of congratulations to Iwaya Takeshi on his reappointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1973, the friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Japan has been continuously nurtured by generations of leaders and peoples, becoming a common treasure of both countries.

In 2014, the two countries set up the strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia, marking a significant milestone in the bilateral relations.

In November last year, both nations agreed to lift up the two countries' relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.

Japan is currently Viet Nam's largest source of official development assistance, second largest labor importer, third investment and tourism partner, and fourth biggest trading partner./.
