Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Chairman of the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) Dai He Gen in Kunming city on November 6 as part of his ongoing trip to the neighboring country.

CRCC is currently ranked 39th on the Fortune Global 500 list. The railway giant has designed and built more than 20,000 kilometers of railway lines and 8,000 expressways in China.

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) under CRCC is in charge of developing railway construction projects abroad. So far, with over 9,000 kms of railway, CCECC accounted for 80 percent of China's railway projects in foreign countries.

Dai said that CRCC is extremely interested in the Kunming-Lao Cai-Ha Noi-Hai Phong railway construction project and exploring the possibility of participating in the implementation of the North-South high-speed railway project in Viet Nam.

In reply, Prime Minister Pham called upon the two countries' enterprises to strengthen cooperation in order to promote the realization of high-level agreements and specific cooperation contents reached by the two sides' senior leaders.

Pham welcomed CRCC's plans to expand investments in Viet Nam in coming time, calling on CRCC to work with Vietnamese relevant ministries, sectors and agencies on the Kunming-Lao Cai-Ha Noi-Hai Phong railway project.

The aforesaid project plays an important role in connecting the "Two Corridors, One Belt" Framework with the "Belt and Road" Initiative, Pham stressed.

Viet Nam expects to commence construction of the railway in 2025, said the Prime Minister./.
