The Deputy Minister made the above statement during an interview ahead of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's tour to China to attend the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Cooperation Summit, the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit and the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Viet Nam (CLVM) Summit.

According to Mr. Pham, this is the first time in six years that the GMS, ACMECS and CLMV cooperation summits are held in person again, providing an opportunity for leaders to discuss cooperation directions and helping these mechanisms firmly step into a new era of development.

Besides traditional issues such as economy, trade and investment, hard and soft infrastructure, and transboundary water resource management, leaders to these summits are expected to explore cooperation opportunities in new fronts, notably innovation.

These new areas of cooperation will help the GMS, ACMECS, and CLMV to become pioneering mechanisms that elevate the Mekong subregion to a new level in regional and international value chains.

These summits target to consolidate political trust among the participating countries, namely Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam, said the Deputy Foreign Minister./.
