ASEAN Foreign Ministers issue statement on impact of Typhoon Yagi
VGP - ASEAN Foreign Ministers have issued a statement on impact of Typhoon Yagi to expressed their sadness of the loss of lives and extensive damage to properties caused by Typhoon Yagi in the Philippines, Viet Nam, Lao PDR, Thailand, China and other countries.
They expressed their heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the families and communities affected by the Typhoon.
"ASEAN affirms its solidarity with the governments and peoples of the affected countries and is confident that the affected countries will overcome and recover swiftly from the impact of this natural disaster," the statement wrote.
ASEAN stands ready to extend its cooperation and support to the relief efforts, including through the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre).
For Viet Nam, ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) will provide 2,002 family kits, 1,008 house repair kits, 1,015 kitchen kits, and 3,031 personal hygiene kits. The aid is expected to be delivered to Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi on September 13-14.
Typhoon Yagi, the strongest storm in Asia this year, has caused widespread devastation across Southeast Asia, particularly in Viet Nam and Laos.
Severe flooding and landslides have resulted in the loss of lives and displaced over 85,000 people in these two countries, following its destructive path through the Philippines and China./.
