APEC needs to boost sustainable development, digital transformation

Luong made the above statement while addressing the second session of the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, which took place in Gyeongju, South Korea on November 1.
Under the theme "Preparing a Future-Ready Asia-Pacific", this year's forum reaffirmed the determination of APEC economies to build a resilient region, ready to face challenges, achieve sustainable economic growth, and bring benefits to all people.
To adapt to the rapid development of AI and shape a more inclusive, sustainable, and human-centered growth model, the President called on APEC members to develop a shared strategic vision for building an innovation ecosystem and take the lead in digital economy and AI governance, particularly in establishing necessary standards and regulations to ensure a balance between business growth incentives and the legitimate rights of citizens, social progress, and equal opportunities among economies.
He also emphasized the need for mutual trust to build a dynamic, modern, safe, happy, and prosperous future for all the people in the Asia-Pacific region.
Sharing Viet Nam's perspective, the Head of State noted that science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation serve as the foundation for Viet Nam's next phase of rapid and sustainable growth.
He affirmed that innovation is the cause of the entire people and society, requiring the participation of all levels, all sectors, the business community across all economic components, and every citizen.
Following the meeting, APEC leaders adopted the Gyeongju Declaration, reaffirming their strong commitment to jointly promoting new drivers of growth, harnessing the potential and strengths of the forum, and working toward the goal of building an open, dynamic, resilient, and peaceful Asia-Pacific community for the prosperity of all people and future generations.
They also endorsed the APEC Artificial Intelligence Initiative and the APEC Framework on Demographic Change Cooperation to ramp up cooperation in response to emerging regional and global development trends.
