Additional emergency financial assistance for flood-stricken provinces

VGP - The Government has decided to provide additional VND300 billion (US$11.45 million) in emergency assistance to support flood recovery efforts in Dien Bien and Nghe An.

Flood-hit area in the central province of Nghe An

Of the above amount, Dien Bien shall receive VND100 billion while Nghe An will be allocated with VND200 billion to overcome consequences of the flood and stabilize local people's lives.

This is the Government's second round of emergency funding provided in recent days. On August 2, the Government decided to provide VND250 billion (US$9.5 million) from the national budget reserves to aid initial recovery efforts to Son La, Dien Bien, and Nghe An to address the aftermath of floods.

As of 9:00 p.m. on August 2, the disaster had claimed 10 lives and left 7 injured. A total of 325 homes were damaged or lost property, with many households losing all belongings.

Public infrastructure suffered significant damage, and around 33.6 hectares of rice, along with large areas of corn, pineapple, and vegetables, were destroyed./.
