Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son – Kiep Bac complex recognized as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 18 attended a ceremony announcing the inscription of the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son – Kiep Bac Monuments and Scenic Landscape Complex on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh
The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the Party Committees, authorities, and people of Quang Ninh province, Bac Giang province (now Bac Ninh province), and Hai Duong province (now Hai Phong city), along with ministries, central agencies, organizations, and individuals who worked tirelessly to prepare and defend the nomination dossier.
This recognition marks Viet Nam's ninth World Heritage Site and the first heritage cluster in the country to be nominated as a serial property spanning multiple provinces. The complex terrain of mountains, rivers, and streams made the process especially challenging, but the dossier was prepared in a meticulous and professional manner.
The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to UNESCO, international organizations, and member states for their support in securing the recognition. He assigned the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, and Hai Phong to continue safeguarding and promoting the outstanding universal values of the heritage.
The UNESCO World Heritage Certificate will be formally presented at a grand ceremony scheduled for December 2025 in Quang Ninh.
The complex was recognized as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage on August 18, 2025. It is a trans-provincial heritage site that links the three provinces, associated with the Truc Lam Zen Buddhism tradition founded by King Tran Nhan Tong in the 13th century. The complex holds significance in Viet Nam's spiritual, intellectual, and historical development./.
