Vietnamese, Hungarian top legislators hold talks
VGP - National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary László Kövér held talks in Budapest, Hungary, on June 27 (local time).
The talks took place on the occasion of the top Vietnamese legislator's official visit to Hungary from June 26-28.
Viet Nam attaches importance and expects to strengthen the multi-faceted relations with Hungary, the first comprehensive partnership of Viet Nam in the Central and Eastern Europe, asserted Vuong.
He expressed thanks to Hungary for sharing vaccines and medical supplies with Viet Nam in its COVID-19 fight.
Vuong also thanked the Hungarian parliament and Government for actively advocating the signing and approval of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) as well as Hungary, as the first country in the EU ratifying the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).
Viet Nam is willing to play as a bridging role in the relations between Hungary and other nations in ASEAN and the region, he noted.
For his side, László Kövér affirmed that Viet Nam is a crucial partner of Hungary in Southeast Asia.
He suggested Viet Nam enhance trade relations with the Visegrad Group including the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Europe.
Regarding international and regional issues of mutual concerns, both sides stressed the need to respect independence and sovereignty, peacefully handle disputes, respecting the law and protect national interests in line with international law.
They vowed to enhance trade in a more balanced and sustainable manner on the basis of taking advantages of each side's market.
Both sides agreed to expand cooperation in science and technology in environmental protection, climate change response, particularly in green agriculture, high-quality and clean agricultural processing as well as culture, people-to-people exchanges and education.
They consented to maintain coordination and mutual support at multi-lateral parliamentary forums and high-level delegation exchanges and share experience in parliamentary activities.
On the occasion, the two leaders signed an agreement on cooperation between the two parliaments in the next period with deeper and more extensive contents that are suitable with the new context and situation.
Under the deal, both sides will work together to organize a seminar on improving the legal framework on greenhouse gas emission reduction, renewable energy and green economy.
Following the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between the Vietnamese and Hungarian Ministries of Justice.
