Vietnamese DPM attends signing ceremony of Gaza Board of Peace
VGP - At the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended the signing ceremony of the Board of Peace for Gaza on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos on February 22, 2026.

President Donald Trump, together with 19 heads of state and government representatives from Bahrain, Morocco, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Mongolia, signed Board of Peace to lay out a blueprint for the next steps in implementing a ceasefire in Gaza.
Al the signing ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, and member of the Peace Council's executive board Jared Kushner.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Viet Nam highly appreciates President Donald Trump's efforts to promote peace, cooperation, and prosperity worldwide, and stands ready to participate in the Peace Council as a founding member.
The Deputy Prime Minister also stressed Viet Nam's aspiration to soon coordinate with other members of the Council in implementing the Gaza Peace Plan, which was adopted by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025, thereby promoting sustainable peace in the Middle East on the basis of Viet Nam's consistent stance on the Palestinian issue, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui respectfully conveyed the message of General Secretary To Lam, expressing appreciation and gratitude for President Donald Trump's continued support for the development of Viet Nam–U.S relations, as well as his support for a "strong, independent, self-reliant and prosperous" Viet Nam. He also conveyed the invitation of General Secretary To Lam and other senior Vietnamese leaders, inviting President Donald Trump and the First Lady to visit Viet Nam at an appropriate time.
The members of President Trump's Cabinet affirmed their high regard for and agreement to further deepen and enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and the U.S. in a substantive and effective manner, including efforts to soon reach an agreement on reciprocal tariff negotiations. They also welcomed Viet Nam's to become a founding member of the Peace Council and noted that President Trump would arrange a visit to Viet Nam when conditions permit.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son paid a courtesy call on President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. President Aliyev conveyed his warm greetings to General Secretary To Lam and his best wishes for the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
President Aliyev expressed his desire to visit Viet Nam in 2026 to further advance the Strategic Partnership and the high-level agreements reached during General Secretary To Lam's visit to Azerbaijan in May 2025, particularly in the fields of oil and gas, technology, and other areas. President Aliyev also highly appreciated Viet Nam's and General Secretary To Lam's decision to participate as a founding member of the Peace Council, and expressed his hope that the two countries would work closely together and share development experience, thereby making practical contributions to reconstruction efforts not only in Gaza but also globally.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son also met with the Foreign Ministers of Indonesia, Uzbekistan, and Saudi Arabia, as well as with the senior representative of the Peace Council and former United Nations Special Envoy for the Middle East, Mr. Nickolay Mladenov, to exchange views on potential cooperation within the framework of the Peace Council and on bilateral cooperation.
The foreing leaders and officials welcomed Viet Nam's decision to participate in the Peace Council on Gaza, expressed confidence that Viet Nam's foreign policy, history of resilience, and experience in overcoming the consequences of war and successfully rebuilding the country constitute valuable lessons, and assessed that Viet Nam's participation would make positive contributions to the peace process in the region./.
