Nguyen made the statement at the Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly, held from June 13 to 18 in New York, to address the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Nguyen reaffirmed Viet Nam's consistent and principled position on the Palestinian issue, urging all parties to halt hostilities and work toward a durable peace.

He emphasized the critical role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in providing essential humanitarian assistance and services to Palestinian civilians.

Nguyen reiterated Viet Nam's supports for ongoing international diplomatic efforts, notably the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia.

Nguyen expressed his hope that the conference would reconvene soon and affirmed Viet Nam's readiness to contribute to post-conflict reconstruction and governance discussions in Gaza.

On this occasion, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for the protection of civilians and full compliance with international humanitarian law in Gaza. The resolution received 149 votes in favor, 12 against, and 19 abstentions. Viet Nam co-sponsored and voted in favor of the resolution, underscoring its ongoing commitment to international efforts for peace, stability, and humanitarian protection in the Middle East./.
