Vietjet launches direct route between HCM City, India’s Kochi
VGP - Budget carrier Vietjet launched a direct route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Kochi (India) from August 12.
The air route would make it easier for travelers between the ancient commercial port of Southwest India and Viet Nam's economic hub.
It also serves the development of economic relations and cultural exchanges between the two cities, and the two countries.
Vietjet is the first Vietnamese airline operating direct flights to Kochi.
Ho Chi Minh City – Kochi route serves passengers with 4 return flights per week on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
With only more than 5 hours flying per leg, the flight departs from Ho Chi Minh City at 19:20 and arrives in Kochi at 22:50 (local time), and the return flight takes off from Kochi at 23:50 (local time) and lands in Ho Chi Minh City at 6:40 (local time).
As searches on hotels in and flights to Viet Nam by Indian travelers surged nearly four-fold against pre-pandemic levels, Vietnamese carriers are racing to launch more direct flights to tap into the world's most populous country.
Data from online booking travel site Agoda showed searches for Viet Nam by Indian tourists between January 2019 to mid-May in 2023 grew more than for Southeast Asian neighbors like Thailand (147 percent), Singapore (215 percent) and Indonesia (256 percent), CNBC reported.
The launch of a series of direct routes in recent years has made Viet Nam a top pick among Indian travelers.
Viet Nam received 137,000 Indian tourists in 2022./.
