Viet Nam's human right achievements widely recognized
VGP - Viet Nam's efforts and achievements in ensuring human rights are widely recognized and highly appreciated by the international community, noted Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang.
At the ministry's regular press conference held on June 6, Pham replied to a reporter's query about the 2023 EU Annual Report on Human Rights and Democracy in the World.
She said though the report reflects some achievements and progress Viet Nam has made in protecting human rights, it continues to put forth a number of unobjective comments based on inaccurate information and does not accurately reflect the actual situation in the Southeast Asian country.
Viet Nam's consistent policy is to protect and promote human rights. The nation always considers its people as the center and driving force of the innovation process and its socio-economic development. Viet Nam always strives for the goal of improving people's lives and enjoyment rights, she emphasized.
The basic rights and freedom of humans are acknowledged in the Constitution and law of Viet Nam, and ensured and respected in reality, she noted.
According to Pham, the comprehensive partnership and cooperation between Viet Nam and the EU is increasingly developing. Viet Nam stands ready to exchange openly and frankly and cooperates with the EU on human rights issue in a spirit of openness and respect to enhance mutual understanding via annual dialogue mechanisms and other bilateral exchange frameworks.
The enhancement of exchanges and dialogues via existing cooperation mechanisms will help the EU have full objective information and a better understanding of the actual situation of promoting and ensuring human rights in Viet Nam, thereby contributing to fostering Viet Nam- EU relations, she shared./.
