Viet Nam's GDP expands 4.14% in Q2

VGP - Viet Nam's GDP growth accelerated to 4.14 percent in April-June period from 3.32 percent in the previous quarter, the General Statistics Office (GSO) announced on Thursday.

Viet Nam posts a GDP growth of 3.72 percent in the first half of this year, the second lowest in the same period in 2011-2023.

The GSO added that the agro-forestry-fishery sector expanded 3.25 percent, contributing 8.53 percent of the total GDP; industry and construction up 2.5 percent (accounting for 23.63 percent); and service sector up 6.11 percent (making up 67.84 percent).

During January-June, Viet Nam's GDP expanded 3.72 percent.

Regarding the structure of the economy during the first half of the year, the sector of agriculture, forestry and fishery made up 9.28 percent; the sector of industry and construction accounted for 11.87 percent; and the service sector represented 78.85 percent.

The major factors contributing to the high growth of the service sector include domestic consumption stimulation policies and tourism promotion activities.

In terms of GDP use during this period, the final consumption rose by 2.68 percent against the same period of last year; accumulated assets grew by 1.15 percent; and trade balance of goods and services decreased by 10 percent.
