Viet Nam welcomes nearly 7.7 million foreign tourists in first four months

VGP - Nearly 7.7 million foreign arrivals travelled to Viet Nam in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 23 percent, the National Statistics Office reported.

Of the figure, 6.6 million tourists arrived in the Southeast Asian nation. Land border and sea arrivals reached 925,000 and 160,000, respectively.

China continued to be Viet Nam's largest source market with 1.95 million visitors in the reviewed period, an increase of over 56 per cent compared to the same period in 2024. South Korea came second with 1.58 million arrivals, showing a slight decline compared to last year. Taiwan ranked third, with 440,214 arrivals, followed by Japan and India.

Visitors from Asian countries reached over 5.9, representing nearly 78 per cent of all international tourists.

The Russian market saw particularly strong growth, with 166,460 arrivals, accounting for over 70 per cent of the total Russian arrivals recorded in the previous year, making Russia the fastest-growing source market among Viet Nam's key inbound tourism markets.

The number of arrivals from the Philippines soared by 198.3 percent to 135,951, equivalent to over 50 per cent of last year's total.

According to aggregated data from Google Destination Insights, Viet Nam ranks 7th globally in Top Growth by destination country as international searches for tourist accommodations in the Southeast Asian nation posted a growth rate of 10-25 percent in January-April period.

Viet Nam is also the only Southeast Asian country listed in the top 10, surpassing other regional peers such as the Philippines (18), Singapore (25), Thailand (36), Indonesia (37), and Malaysia (39).

The top 10 most searched Vietnamese cities by foreigners include: Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Vung Tau, Da Lat, Phan Thiet, and Hue.

Notably, Vung Tau and Ninh Binh recorded the highest growth in search volume (over 75 percent).
