Viet Nam treasures relations with Lithuania: General Secretary To Lam

To said that the Lithuanian President's official visit to Viet Nam marks an important milestone that would contribute to further strengthening the Viet Nam–Lithuania bilateral relationship towards a more robust, substantive, and effective manner in the time ahead.

The host congratulated Lithuania on its achievements in socio-economic development, particularly its pioneering role in key areas such as information technology, financial technology (FinTech), artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity, critical fields in global digital transformation, adding that these accomplishments have increasingly enhanced Lithuania's reputation and position in the region.

Nauseda, for his part, expressed his admiration and congratulated Viet Nam on its remarkable and significant achievements over nearly 40 years of implementing the Renewal process.

Viet Nam has now become a dynamic economy, deeply integrated into the global system, maintained political and social stability while continuously improving the living standards of its people, noted the guest.

He spoke highly of Viet Nam's strategic vision and development orientation in science and technology, innovation, national digital transformation, international integration in the new context, and development of the private sector.

The President affirmed Lithuania's recognition of Viet Nam's important role and position in the region and the world, and expressed a strong desire to further strengthen relations with the Southeast Asian nation, both bilaterally and within multilateral frameworks.

Both leaders highlighted the significance of the positive outcomes of the talks between President Luong Cuong and the President of Lithuania, particularly the signing of several important cooperation documents that open up promising and practical collaboration in areas where Lithuania has strengths and Viet Nam has demand, such as science and technology, energy, and high-tech agriculture.

They discussed major directions and measures to promote the traditional friendship between the two countries via enhancing delegation exchanges and high-level contacts, and deepening cooperation in key areas such as economy and trade, defense and security, science and technology, innovation, energy, agriculture, and labor.

The two leaders pledged to enhance exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, and people-to-people ties to further strengthen the friendship, serve the interests of both peoples, elevate each country's role and position in the region and the world, deepen their integration into global supply chains, and contribute to peace, cooperation, and development.

They vowed to continue strengthening coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums such as the United Nations, ASEM, and within the ASEAN–EU cooperation framework.

They reaffirmed their support for international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and emphasized the need to maintain peace, stability, security, safety, and freedom of navigation in the East Sea./.
