Tran, who is also head of the Viet Nam sub-committee in the Viet Nam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, met Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Director of the Office of Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Wang is also head of the China sub-committee in the Viet Nam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation.

The meeting was held in Yunnan province, on August 16, as part of the Vietnamese Deputy PM's visit to China to attend the 7th China-South Asia Expo and the 27th Kunming Import and Export Fair.

Both sides expressed their satisfactions on positive achievements in Viet Nam-China relations, especially after Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's official visit to China in November last year.

The Vietnamese Deputy PM suggested that the two sides foster close coordination, promote the concretization of high-level common perceptions, and actively make preparations for all-level delegation exchange activities in the upcoming time.

Tran underlined the need to enhance trade cooperation in a more sustainable manner and strengthen connection of railway and road transport infrastructure.

Wang Yi, for his part, emphasized that China treasures developing the friendly neighborliness with Viet Nam, willing to work closely with Viet Nam to prepare for upcoming high-ranking visits.

He pledged to continue upholding the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms between the two nations, particularly the Viet Nam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation mechanism.

China stands ready to support Viet Nam to realize its economic development goals set by the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, Wang said.

He called on both sides to bolster collaboration at international and regional forums.

Both leaders vowed to work with ASEAN to maintain peace, stability and step up cooperation in the East Sea./.
