Viet Nam to roll out E10 biofuel nationwide next June
VGP - Viet Nam will begin nationwide distribution of E10 biofuel from June 2026 under a new circular issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

Under Circular 50/2025/TT-BCT, all unleaded gasoline sold on the domestic market must be converted to E10—a blend containing 10 percent ethanol—starting June 1, 2026. The current E5 RON92 fuel, which contains 5 percent ethanol, will continue to be available until the end of 2030.
The MoIT said it may adjust blending ratios and introduce new fuel products as necessary to safeguard energy security, support environmental goals, and protect consumer interests. The ministry also noted that the use of biodiesel blends B5 and B10 remains optional for diesel-powered vehicles.
Speaking at the recent international workshop "Developing Biofuels in a New Era – Key Priorities for Shaping Viet Nam's Sustainable Fuel Future," Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that biofuels—particularly E10—are a strategic tool for cutting greenhouse gas emissions, increasing value in the agricultural sector, and advancing the country's green energy transition.
He affirmed that Viet Nam has been preparing the necessary legal framework, technical infrastructure, and production capacity to ensure nationwide E10 adoption by 2026.
Earlier, E10 has already been piloted by the country's two largest fuel distributors, Petrolimex and PVOil, in Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, and Hai Phong since August 1, 2025./.
