Viet Nam to master production technology of 15 types vaccines
VGP - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam signed Decision 1286/QD-TTg approving the Program to ensure vaccine supply for vaccination until 2030.
The program's objective is to meet the demand for vaccines against infectious diseases deployed in the Expanded Program on Immunization, those used for vaccination services and disease prevention and control.
Accordingly, by 2025, Viet Nam will master the technology of producing ten vaccines; produce at least three vaccines, including a 5-in-1 combination vaccine to prevent diseases: Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Haemophilus influenzae typ b and either Polio or Hepatitis B.
By 2030, the Southeast Asian country will master the technology of producing 15 types, having at least five vaccines. Besides, domestically produced vaccines are expected to meet the demand of international standards.
To achieve the above goal, the program sets out essential tasks, including promulgation of a specific mechanism for vaccine research and production and regulations related to marketing authorization, bidding, supply, and use of vaccines.
The country will increase investment in facilities, equipment, and means for expanding the scale of the inspection system and developing a center for scientific research, technology and innovation on vaccines.
At the same time, Viet Nam will promote research and application of new and advanced technologies to serve the production of cancer vaccines, multi-component vaccines and others.
Viet Nam will also attract investment and support from international organizations and developed countries in training human resources to perform research tasks, mastering technology to produce vaccines.
In particular, a financial mechanism will also be mulled over to ensure the correct and adequate calculation of the price of domestically produced vaccines for the Expanded Immunization Program to develop domestic vaccine production./.
