The top legislator made the announcement at a video-teleconference held in Ha Noi on April 16 by the Politburo and the Party Secretariat to disseminate the outcomes of the 11th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee.

The event drew the participation of 1.5 million party members nationwide.

After the national elections, the new National Assembly is expected to convene the first session on April 6, 2026.

The number of new National Assembly deputies remains at 500, with at least 40 percent being full-time legislators.

Guidelines for candidate structure include about 10 percent being under 40 years old, around 30 percent being re-elected deputies, at least 35 percent being women, and at least 18 percent representing ethnic minority groups.

Legislators are expected to approve the establishment of the National Election Council at the National Assembly's 9th plenary session scheduled to open on May 5, 2025.

During the 9th working session, legislators will also approved amendments to the 2013 Constitution, 31 bills and 12 resolutions./.
