Viet Nam, Singapore sign defense cooperation plan for 2023-2025
VGP - Deputy Minister of National Defense Hoang Xuan Chien and Permanent Secretary at the Singaporean Ministry of Defense Chan Heng Kee signed a defense cooperation plan for the 2023-2025 period at the 13th Singapore-Viet Nam Defense Policy Dialogue held in Singapore on November 4.
During the dialogue, the Vietnamese Deputy Minister expressed thanks to the Singaporean Ministry of Defense for granting scholarships in terms of military and language for the People's Army of Viet Nam.
Hoang invited Chan Heng Kee and other leaders of the Singaporean Ministry of Defense and enterprises to attend the Viet Nam International Defense Expo 2022 which will take place in Viet Nam in early December this year.
Both sides pledged to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, effectively uphold current cooperation mechanisms, including the Defense Policy Dialogue, foster collaboration in human resource training and promote exchanges between the navies, air forces and coast guard forces of the two countries.
They stressed the need to expand coordination in other sectors such as cyber security, maritime security, digital transformation and pandemic response; actively support each other within the ASEAN military-defense cooperation framework.
Regarding the regional and international issues of mutual concerns, they vowed to continue close coordination, maintain solidarity and the central role of ASEAN in the regional security structure and promote dialogues and cooperation between ASEAN Member States and other partners to ensure global and regional peace and stability.
They exchanged their viewpoints on other issues such as the East Sea issue, non-traditional challenges such as cyber security, maritime security, and the Mekong Sub-region.
Earlier, Hoang had a meeting with Senior Minister of State for Defense Heng Chi How.
