Viet Nam, Singapore set clear directions in emerging areas
VGP - Both Viet Nam and Singapore has set the clear directions in the relations especially in emerging areas like renewable energy, carbon credits, energy and digital economies to elevate the relationship, said Singaporean Ambassador to Viet Nam Jaya Ratnam.
The Ambassador made the above statement following the official visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Singapore on February 8-10 at the invitation of his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong.
The trip was an obvious start to the 50th anniversary of the bilateral relations and also the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership.
During the visit, Prime Minister Pham had a very busy program to meet with President Halimah Yacob, hold talks with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, host receptions for Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister & Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean as well as Speaker of the Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin. Leaders of the two ountries agreed to foster the bilateral agreements to strengthen multifaceted cooperation.
Pham also witnessed the signing ceremonies of four Memorandums of Understanding on green and digital partnership, economic and trade cooperation, maritime cooperation and youth exchanges.
He also visited the Smart National Planning Exhibition in Singapore.
"The visit reaffirmed the strong mutual trust that is underpinned the relationship between our two countries and also set the clear directions in the relations especially in emerging areas like renewable energy, carbon credits, energy and digital economies as we seek to elevate the relationship," said the Ambassador.

The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international development and agreed on a need to give common interests in the face of common challenges, work together to deepen regional integration, uphold ASEAN centrality and unity in fostering an open and inclusive regional cooperation architecture .
Singapore has been one of Viet Nam's principle economic partners and the largest source of FDI. One key engagement from the PM Chinh's visit was a meeting with Singaporean Foreign Minister, foreign investors and businessmen in a business forum organized by Singapore Business Federation.
The investment policy of the Viet Nam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) Nghe An 2 was announced. First established in 1996, 13 VSIPs have stretched across Viet Nam, attracting more than US$ 18 billion in investment and employed more than 300,000 workers./.
