Viet Nam, Singapore establish digital economy–green economy partnership
VGP - Viet Nam and Singapore established their partnership in digital economy–green economy on February 9 during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to Singapore.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was inked by Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Tan See Leng.
On the occasion, both sides also signed other cooperation agreements, including a MoU on economic and trade cooperation plan sealed by Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and Minister Tan See Leng, and a MoU on maritime cooperation.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Committee on Youth of Viet Nam and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Nguyen Tuong Lam and Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth cum Vice Chairman of the National Youth Council Alvin Tan signed a MoU on youth cooperation.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister's official visit to Singapore aims to promote collaboration in new areas such as innovation, digital economy, digital transformation and green economy.
Singapore will help Viet Nam to build a digital platform, promote digital transformation in priority areas such as population management, finance and banking, land, and e-commerce.
Regarding green economy, Singapore will assist Viet Nam in realizing just energy transition, towards achieving the goal of net-zero carbon emission by 2050.
The promotion of grid connection between Viet Nam and Singapore is predicted to become a model in cooperation in electricity trade and connectivity within ASEAN, serving for sustainable development goals.
Viet Nam welcomes and creates favorable conditions for Singaporean firms to expand investment in the country, particularly in spheres of innovation, IT, digital transformation, climate change adaption, green conversion, infrastructure, capital market development, human resource training, pharmacy, and electronics.
