Viet Nam sends over 23,000 workers overseas in Jan-Feb
VGP - Viet Nam sent 23,195 workers to work abroad in the first two months of 2024, equivalent to 18.56 percent of the target, according to the Department of Overseas Labor under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA).
In February alone, 10,553 laborers were sent abroad, including 2,789 females. Japan was the biggest recipient of Vietnamese workers with 8,212 of whom 2,217 are female, followed by Taiwan with 1,443, South Korea with 253, Thailand with 109, China 100, Singapore 80, and Hungary 70.
In 2024, Viet Nam targets to export 125,000 laborers under contracts.
To realise the above target, the MOLISA will continue to improve the quality of workers sent abroad, and prioritize sending laborers from disadvantaged areas and policy beneficiaries overseas.
The ministry plans to expand labor markets to countries offering high income and recruiting jobs that are relevant to Vietnamese workers’ skills.
Viet Nam has over 500 labor export companies which have sent workers to over 40 countries and territories around the world.
Since 2010, over 1.4 million Vietnamese workers have been sent abroad, bringing home They sent home S$3.5-4 billion in remittances, contributing significantly to the national socio-economic development./.
