Viet Nam sends more officers for peacekeeping operations in Abyei and South Sudan
VGP - Viet Nam has sent three more officers to undertake United Nations Peacekeeping duties at UNISFA Mission (Abyei area) and UNMISS Mission (South Sudan).
A ceremony took place on September 25 to hand over the President's Decision to the officers.
Addressing the event, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People's Army Phung Si Tan said, officers performing tasks in remote, and risky areas need to strictly comply with the discipline of the Viet Nam People's Army, the regulations of the United Nations, and the laws of the host country.
He asked the three officers to continue promoting the traditions of the army, demonstrating bravery and capacity, and spreading the image of the country and people of Viet Nam in the international arena.
To date, Viet Nam has sent 786 officers and employees to participate in United Nations Peacekeeping operations in three missions (in South Sudan, Central African Republic and Abyei region) and United Nations Headquarters.
According to assessments of UN missions and agencies, Vietnamese officers have made a lot of efforts in carrying out their assigned tasks, showing high professionalism, discipline, and creativity./.
