Vo made the call during his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in San Francisco, the U.S. on November 16 as the pair are there to attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Week.

President Vo expressed his wish to welcome Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Viet Nam in the time to come.

For his side, Prime Minister Trudeau reasured that Canada attaches importance the relationship with Viet Nam, and continues to give priority to strengthening cooperation with the Southeast country, particularly in such fields like politics-diplomacy, econony-trade, education and training, defense and security, and people-to-people exchanges.

The two leaders noted with pleasure at the continued growth of the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, especially the two way trade reached more than US$7 billion in 2022, a year-on-year increase of nearly 17 percent.

Viet Nam has become the second biggest trade partner of Canada in ASEAN while Canada is Viet Nam's second largest trade partner in the Americas.
