Viet Nam reiterates commitments to sustainable development
VGP - The entire socio-political system in Viet Nam has spared no effort in realizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the motto of “leaving no one behind”.
Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung made the above statement while addressing the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) which took place in New York, the U.S., last week.
In his report on the Voluntary National Review (VNR) of Viet Nam 2023 on the SDGs presented at the meeting, Nguyen reiterated Viet Nam's commitments to upholding its role as responsibility to contribute to common efforts of the international community.
This second VNR covers Viet Nam's implementation of SDGs as well as important changes and advancements compared to the first VNR in 2018. Difficulties, challenges, and orientations to promote the implementation of the SDGs in the coming time are also included in the review.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 SDGs was adopted by all UN member states in September 2015.
The VNRs are considered a mechanism to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs on a global scale.
During his working visit to the U.S., Nguyen had working sessions with the U.S. agencies, organizations, businesses, investment funds and big corporation.
At the meetings, they discussed issues related to enhancement of innovation and technology; research, experience exchange and resources on building an international financial center; and promotion and attraction of investment in high-tech projects./.
