EuroCham releases Whitebook on Viet Nam’s green economy and sustainable development
VGP - The European Chamber of Commerce Viet Nam (EuroCham) held a business-to-government dialogue forum in Ha Noi on February 16 to launch its 2023 Whitebook, with the theme “Working Toward a Green Economy and Sustainable Development” on February 16 in Ha Noi.
The ceremony on whitebook release brought together a diverse group of political and business leaders who took part in a productive dialogue between the European business community and Vietnamese policymakers.
Vice-Chairman of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nguyen Quang Vinh said that "We will actively listen to the opinions of the business community to promptly propose to the government to build a legal system of Viet Nam compatible with the commitments of EVFTA and implement this agreement more successfully and effectively."
The Whitebook's emphasis on sustainability is not just about reducing the impact of economic activity on the environment. It is also about creating new economic opportunities and building a more resilient future for both Europe and Viet Nam.
A green economy and sustainable development are critical components of a brighter future, and the Whitebook provides a valuable framework for achieving these goals.
EuroCham Chairman Alain Cany emphasized the importance of the Whitebook, stating that the key points outlined in the publication can be used to support the Vietnamese government's socio-economic development plans and help ensure that Team Europe effectively supports these plans.
"In this period of transition to a green, sustainable future, I have high hopes for Team Europe-Viet Nam relations. Together, our productive relationship empowers us to take advantage of the endless prospects that lie ahead. The European business community and EuroCham will continue to be the strongest supporters for helping Vietnam to achieve this progress," according to Cany.
EuroCham believes that if the challenges outlined in the Whitebook are addressed, the positive outcomes will rise and the full potential of the EVFTA can be realized.
Commenting on the progress of the EVFTA so far, EuroCham Chairman Alain Cany said, "The EVFTA has been a driving force for bilateral trade and investment and has facilitated the flow of technology and expertise. While positive results have been achieved to date, more can be achieved, especially if the Whitebook's key concepts are taken to heart."
The EuroCham's annual publication serves as a comprehensive guide to the regulatory landscape faced by European businesses in Viet Nam.
It offers a nuanced understanding of the obstacles impeding the country's economic progress and sheds light on the adverse effects these challenges have on critical areas such as trade, investment, employment, and development.
With a focus on practical solutions, the Whitebook presents policy recommendations aimed at resolving these regulatory hurdles and facilitating the growth of the country's economy./.
