Viet Nam ranks first among most favorable destinations for Koreans in summer 2024
VGP - Viet Nam ranked first among the list of the most favorable foreign destinations for Korean visitors during this summer, according to travel firm Kyowon Tour Travel Easy.
Travel booking data in the third quarter of this year showed that the Southeast Asian nation surpassed Japan to top the list in the third quarter of this year.
For the first time, Korea's reservation rate for Viet Nam reached 13.7 percent, higher than that of Japan at 13.2 percent. China ranked third in the list with 11.7 percent. Thailand came fourth at 7.1 percent, followed by Mongolia.
Especially, short-distance travel destinations accounted for 80 percent of bookings during the 2024 summer travel peak season, especially the Chuseok (Mid-Autumn) holiday, the biggest holiday of Koreans in a year, which is scheduled on September 14-22. During the holiday, 17 percent of Korean visitors have booked destinations in Japan, 14.7 percent selected China and 14.4 percent chose Viet Nam.
Kyowon Tour Travel Easy attributed the impact of high inflation to Koreans’ decisions to prefer short-distance foreign destinations during the holiday season or early vacation to avoid the peak season to reduce the burden of cost.
Since Viet Nam opened its doors to international visitors, South Korea has remained Viet Nam’s top tourist source market. This summer, Korean tourists continue to choose attractive coastal areas of Viet Nam to relax and experience summer activities.
Earlier, travel platform Agoda said: “Korean tourists are ‘falling in love’ with Vietnam’s wonderful coastal cities and resort islands with fine sand beaches and clean water.”
Accordingly, Korean tourists are interested in four popular destinations in Viet Nam, including Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hoi An and Phu Quoc. These are all famous locations with beautiful beaches, luxury resorts and many attractive tourist activities.
According the General Statistics Office of Viet Nam, South Korea is still the biggest tourist source of Viet Nam in the first three months of 2024 with more than 1.2 million arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent./.
