The event saw the participation of President Luong Cuong who is on an official visit to the South American nation, Chilean Defense Minister Maya Fernandez Allende, representatives of Chile's ministries and agencies, diplomatic delegation, and defense attaché offices in Chile.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang affirmed that Viet Nam firmly adheres to the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, and proactive and active international integration.

In recent years, the Viet Nam People's Army has always been proactive in enhancing international integration and defense diplomacy, both bilaterally and multilaterally, achieving practical results, noted the minister.

Defense diplomacy has become one of the key pillars of the Party's foreign policy and State diplomacy and an important channel for building strategic trust, and developing friendly relations between Viet Nam and other countries and international organizations, thereby contributing to enhancing the country's position and prestige.

The defense attaché office at the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile will carry out defense diplomacy activities to promote mutual understanding and defense cooperation, making contributions to the development of Viet Nam-Chile comprehensive partnership.

Minister Maya Fernandez stated that within the framework of the traditional relations between the two nations, the defense sector plays an important role, which was addressed by both countries during the talks between President Gabriel Boric and President Luong Cuong, and it has been further concretized via a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation.

She praised the decision of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to open a defense attaché office in Chile, considering it an important milestone in the bilateral relations.

This move will help both sides continue to bolster collaboration in specific activities such as search and rescue, disaster prevention, as well as exchanging experiences and training personnel, emphasized the Chilean Minister./.
