State leader leaves for official visits to Chile, Peru, and APEC Economic Leaders’ Week
VGP - President Luong Cuong left Ha Noi on Friday evening for official visits to Chile and Peru and for 2024 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week from November 9–16.
The visits are made at the invitations of Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font and Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, respectively.
He is accompanied by Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang; Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son; Chairman of the Presidential Office Le Khanh Hai; Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security Tran Quoc To, among others.
This is the President's first overseas trip in his new role, with special significance both bilaterally and multilaterally.
The visits aim to further strengthen traditional friendship, deepen political trust, effectively leverage untapped areas of cooperation, and promote relations between Viet Nam and Chile, Peru, and the Latin American region as well as enhance collaboration with other countries in addressing global challenges.
Furthermore, the President's participation in the APEC 2024 Leaders' Week, which coincides with the 35th anniversary of the forum, reaffirms Viet Nam's active and responsible contributions to addressing regional and global issues, especially in promoting the process of international economic integration and creating new momentum for regional growth.
It also provides an opportunity for the President to meet and engage with APEC leaders, including many of Viet Nam's comprehensive strategic and strategic partners, thereby continuously deepening relations with APEC members./.
