Viet Nam, New Zealand sign cooperation agreements

VGP – Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and New Zealander counterpart Christopher Luxon witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements between the two countries in Wellington, New Zealand, on Monday.

Specifically, Vietnamese Ministrer of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son and New Zealander Minister of Education Penny Simmonds signed an agreement on education cooperation for the 2023-2026 period.

Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade and New Zealander Minister of Trade Todd McClay signed an agreement on economic and trade cooperation.

Vietnamese Deputy Ministrer of Finance Bui Van Khang and Chief Executive of the Treasury of New Zealand Caralee McLiesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation.

On March 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception for professor Neil Quigley, Vice Chancellor of the University of Waikato and Chair of the Board of Directors of New Zealand's Reserve Bank. He also witnessed the signing of four cooperation agreements between Vietnamese universities and Waikato. Around 2,000 Vietnamese students are studying in New Zealand.

New Zealand is Viet Nam's 14th largest trading partner with the two-way trade reaching US$1.3 billion.

New Zealand has 52 valid projects in Viet Nam with total registered capital of more than US$208 million, ranking 39th out of 143 countries and territories investing in the Southeast Asian nation./.
